A Disaster Recovery plan (DR) is a formal document created by an organization containing detailed instructions on how to respond to unplanned incidents: natural disasters, power outages, telephone system outages, temporary loss of access to a facility due to bomb threats, fire, cyberattacks and any other disruptive events. Disruptions can lead to lost revenue, damage to brand image, dissatisfied customers, so, the longer the recovery time, the greater the adverse business impact. A successful DR plan contains strategies on minimizing the effects of a disaster and enabling rapid recovery from disruptions, regardless of the source of the disruption. It should also be organized by type of disaster and location and contain instructions that can be implemented by anyone.
